Trial to begin against NCAA over linebacker’s death from brain injury
The complaint says former USC linebacker Matthew Gee’s death at 49 was due to head injuries the NCAA should have prevented, while the college sports association said he and other players signed waivers acknowledging they knew the risks.




A wrongful-death lawsuit against the NCAA goes to trial Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court after the widow of a former linebacker alleged that the organization did not do enough to prevent the head injuries repeatedly sustained by her husband while he played football for USC.
