Retired judges told to provide proof of age discrimination
At the heart of the litigation is the claim that retired judges were disparately impacted by the Council’s 2018 decision to implement a term limit of 1,320 days for retired judges participating in the Assigned Judges Program.




A group of seven retired judges suing the California Judicial Council for age discrimination must respond to discovery requests after the Council accused them of obstructing the judicial process and concealing information in their initial responses.
The order was issued Monday by San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard B. Ulmer, following the recommendation of Judge Pro Tem David McDondald.
