Sutter Health agrees to pay $13M over allegations of false billing

Northern District U.S. Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds said the health care provider billed the federal government for tests performed by third parties.

Sutter Health, agreed to pay more than $13 million to settle False Claims Act allegations that it improperly billed customers for lab tests performed by third parties.

“Government healthcare programs must be protected, and this office will investigate and pursue health care providers that fail to provide the services paid for by public health care programs,” Northern District U.S. Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds said in a statement.
