County sues McKinsey over marketing advice to Purdue Pharma
McKinsey had stated in a 2021 motion to dismiss that the lawsuits by municipalities such as Contra Costa County were barred by a February 2021 settlement for $573 million between the company and 47 states, extinguishing similar claims.




Contra Costa County has joined the multidistrict litigation against McKinsey and Company Inc., filing a lawsuit that accuses the company of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act by purposely marketing opioids as a safe method of pain relief and covering up the misfeasance of its client Purdue Pharma.
