Google, DOJ resolve search warrant dispute over lost data

According to the government, the agreement also requires Google to create better methods of processing and retrieving data that may be implicated in future, unrelated litigation.

The Department of Justice and Google Inc. agreed Thursday to a first-of-its-kind resolution to settle a search warrant dispute over lost data related to a 2016 money laundering investigation into Russian crypto currency exchange platform BTC-e.

According to the government, the agreement also requires Google to create better methods of processing and retrieving data that may be implicated in future, unrelated litigation.
