Longtime secretary accuses Los Angeles County sheriff of retaliation

Sheriff Alex “Villanueva reversed Ms. Gallegos’ promotion simply because he thought she was supporting a rival sheriff’s candidate,” said plaintiff’s attorney Vincent Miller.

A career secretary in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department claims Sheriff Alex Villanueva blocked her promotion after she supported a rival candidate in the June primary.

Cynthia Gallegos, who is being represented by the Law Offices of Vincent Miller in a civil rights lawsuit, is seeking $4 million in damages. Cynthia Gallegos v. County of Los Angeles, A Municipal Entity, et al., 22STCV34315, (L.A. Super., filed Oct. 25, 2022).
