Judges’ discrimination suit proceeds amid discovery disputes
At the heart of the litigation is the claim that retired judges were disparately impacted by the Judicial Council’s 2018 decision to implement a term limit of 1,320 days for retired judges participating in the Assigned Judges Program.




San Francisco Superior Court Judge Samuel K. Feng denied a motion by the California Judicial Council and Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye to push back the trial date of an age discrimination lawsuit filed by a group of retired judges.
Trial is set to begin on March 27, 2023 and the parties agreed Tuesday that the defendants’ motion for summary judgment shall be filed no later than Jan. 13.
