Changing State Bar’s structure or staff in the cards, state Senator says
“I was surprised that, historically, there had not been a method, practice or system in place to correlate complaints as to a lawyer or law firm,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Thomas J. Umberg said after the State Bar acknowledged 205 complaints were made against Thomas V. Girardi over 40 years with no public action taken.





The chair of the state Senate Judiciary Committee said Friday that he plans to pressure the State Bar to protect California consumers, whether that means changing the agency’s structure, personnel, or both.
