Ban on gas powered vehicles would hurt minorities, suit says

“The California Air Resources Board’s prohibition on the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles in 2035 results in disparate harms to poor and working families in California’s inland and rural communities, including in the majority minority communities enduring long distance commutes to jobs,” Holland & Knight partner Brian C. Bunger wrote in the complaint.

California’s plan to ban the sale of new gasoline powered cars violates the rights of racial minorities, according to a complaint filed in federal court on Monday.

The case is one of several Holland & Knight LLP has filed against the state over its environmental policies. At least two of these are ongoing.
