California gets $265M from Walmart’s $3.1B opioid deal
Tuesday’s announcement comes two weeks after an $8 billion damages trial between Walgreens and the City and County of San Francisco was put on hold to allow for both sides to work out a settlement agreement. In August, a federal judge found Walgreens was a substantial factor in the spread of the opioid crisis in San Francisco.




Litigation stemming from the opioid crisis is wrapping up across the nation as California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced Tuesday that the state is part of a $3.1 billion multistate settlement by Walmart to end thousands of lawsuits nationwide claiming the company’s pharmacies failed to adequately control the flow of opioid prescriptions.
California will receive $265 million as part of the settlement to help abate the problems bought...
