$50M Amplify oil spill deal OK’d, more litigation coming
As stipulated by the settlement, defendant Amplify Energy Corp. will pay $34 million to a class of fishing industry plaintiffs, $9 million to a class of owners and lessees of waterfront property in the Dana Point area and $7 million to a class composed of plaintiffs who work in tourism.

SANTA ANA — A federal judge approved a $50 million settlement for a class of plaintiffs who were adversely affected when an oil spill in Huntington Beach dirtied beaches across Southern California last year.
“This court initially concludes the settlement agreement meets the criteria for preliminary settlement approval and it seemed fair, reasonable and adequate,” U.S. District Judge David O. Carter said in a hearing on Wednesday.
