Counsel disqualified in suit against Hollywood Foreign Press Association

Superior Court Judge Wendy Chang said David W, Quinto’s unwillingness to cooperate with the court in disclosing the amount of privileged information he possessed, despite a “duly served subpoena,” was reason enough to disqualify him. She imposed no immediate sanctions. Quinto said there was no evidence he had privileged attorney-client documents.

A Los Angeles County judge granted a motion to disqualify counsel from a breach of contract case brought against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association on the grounds that plaintiffs' attorney David W. Quinto had improper access to privileged information regarding the organization's bylaws.

Quinto called the ruling "outrageous" in a phone call on Monday.
