Chief supervising attorney at California Supreme Court to retire

Jake Dear began his Supreme Court career in 1982 as an extern under Justice Stanley Mosk. In the following years, he served as a staff attorney for Justice Joseph Grodin, Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas and Chief Justice Ronald M. George. He became the chief supervising attorney while with George and stayed in that position under Cantil-Sakauye.

Jake Dear, chief supervising attorney at the California Supreme Court, is retiring after 40 years, the court confirmed.

Dear, whose duties include heading Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye’s legal staff, has been in the top position since 2007, the court said in a statement.
