Challenge to LA ‘no-vending zones’ might clarify state law
“While there have been lawsuits challenging vending restrictions, they were limited in scope (only targeting one neighborhood) or focused on individual civil rights violations,” Joshua Busch, a spokesman for legal services provider Public Counsel, one of the law firms representing the plaintiffs suing the city of Los Angeles.




Nonprofit organizations challenged “no-vending zones” adopted by the City of Los Angeles that they say hinder street vendors’ profits in a lawsuit in state court.
The lawsuit might provide clarity in court on whether such local ordinances that aim to curb street vending run afoul of state law.
