US judge calls Avenatti filing ‘frivolous and patently obstructionist’
In his one-page objection to the issuance of a post-sentencing explanation from U.S. District Judge James V. Selna, suspended attorney Michael J. Avenatti wrote Tuesday that because of the appeal notice, “Accordingly, the defendant objects to the court’s subsequent issuance of any written decision, explanation, or memorandum relating to the defendant’s sentencing.”




The federal judge who sentenced Michael J. Avenatti to 14 years in prison this week for stealing from clients and cheating the IRS dismissed the suspended attorney’s objection to a post-sentencing memorandum on Wednesday as “frivolous and patently obstructionist.”
