FTC sues to block Activision’s merger with Microsoft

Microsoft CEO Brad Smith indicated in an email that the company planned to fight to complete the deal. “While we believed in giving peace a chance, we have complete confidence in our case and welcome the opportunity to present our case in court,” Smith said.

The Federal Trade Commission, in its most aggressive challenge to a technology industry merger in decades, filed a complaint Thursday to block Microsoft Corp.’s $69 billion acquisition of Santa Monica-based video game developer Activision Blizzard Inc.
