Class of inmates say jailhouse in San Bruno is too crowded
The class representatives are pretrial detainees who have been waiting for their day in court for more than five years. They said 92.85% of inmates at the San Bruno jail are also pretrial. They argued in filings the jail is required to have 30,000 sq ft. of outdoor exercise space.




A class of inmates clashed with attorneys for the San Francisco’s sheriff’s department Monday over whether the detainees were given an adequate amount of exercise space and time in direct sunlight. After the hearing, the judge said she couldn’t tell from either side how much outdoor exercise the inmates get.
