Serial ADA suer hit with fees, counsel won him ‘$5M in 3 years’

James S. Link, a sole practitioner from Pasadena who represented the defendant in the 9th Circuit case, said his victory against Potter Handy in that matter was unlikely to affect the case brought by the offices of Los Angeles and San Francisco DAs, who estimated the said the firm collected $5 million in three years in 500 cases for one serial disability law client.

The 9th Circuit upheld an award of attorney fees against a serial filer of disability lawsuits for whom one law firm has allegedly extracted over $5 million from small businesses in under three years.

The circuit court ruling follows an appeal by San Francisco and Los Angeles county district attorneys on the dismissal of their own case against the firm, Potter Handy LLP, accusing it of filing fraudulent Americans with Disability Act claims...
