Jury finds Health Net is to blame for woman’s opioid addiction

“Health Net had ample opportunities to step in and deliver the specialist services that are promised to plan members under their contract with Health Net,” Travis Corby, a partner at Shernoff Bidart Echeverria LLP, explained. The jury awarded the woman $14.42 million.

A Los Angeles jury decided Health Net should pay $14.42 million to a patient who contended the health provider was to blame for her addiction to opioids she was prescribed while waiting months for referrals to specialists.
