High Court to decide if compelled arbitration dispute halts litigation

The case comes to the nation’s highest court after Coinbase’s attempts to compel arbitration in two class actions alleging the company attempted to mislead entrants in the “Dogecoin Sweepstakes” were denied by the Northern District of California Court and the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear an unfair competition class action against Coinbase Inc., a San Francisco based cryptocurrency exchange, to settle a circuit split regarding a district court’s ability to continue litigation despite a pending appeal of a motion to compel arbitration.
