Girardi Keese ex-lawyers must defend fraud suit in Chicago

Two former Girardi Keese attorneys will have to defend a lawsuit by a Chicago-based firm that sued them for conversion and fraud in Illinois, a federal judge ruled Thursday.
U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kennelly of Chicago ruled that there was a “clear nexus” between the lawsuit and the underlying dispute between Edelson PC and Thomas V. Girardi’s now-defunct law firm over the failure to pay Edelson after a lawsuit settlement.
