Company, cities say they shouldn’t be defendants in odor case

“The court, I’m sure, is aware that this was a fire that occurred in the city of Carson, it was responded to by the county fire department, and that led to what’s been characterized as an odor event that was managed by the county — so the allegations are somewhat difficult to manage,” explained Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney Jeffrey L. Goss.

The owners of a Carson warehouse that caught fire and blanketed the city in a foul smell two years ago said that they shouldn’t be held responsible for the incident.

Attorneys for Prologis Inc. asserted in a status conference on Monday before Los Angeles County Judge David S. Cunningham III that an upcoming master complaint should disconnect them from other defendants who operated businesses in the building.
