Meta agrees to pay $725M to end claims over data mining
If approved, this settlement would be the largest ever settlement of a privacy class action in the nation as well as the largest amount Facebook has ever paid, in a settlement or a verdict, to private litigants.




Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms Inc. and its users are asking for approval for a $725 million settlement to resolve the consumer privacy class action which arose from revelations in 2018 that data mining firm Cambridge Analytica harvested up to 87 million Facebook users’ information without their consent for political advertising.
