Serial ADA suit filers press on, though courts have applied restraints

However, hundreds of lawsuits, many by the same serial plaintiffs, continue to be filed, and most of those don’t make it to court, with small business owners intimidated by the “you have been sued” letters into paying thousands to settle, defense attorneys say.

For the second straight year, an appellate decision has restrained lawsuits targeting California’s hospitality industry for alleged noncompliance with the Americans with Disability Act and the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
