Panel agrees deputies had valid reason to inventory truck
Circuit judges say district judge inaccurately characterized the record and could have provided more reasoning, but they give deference to his decision to credit “the testimony of the deputies over the homeowner’s testimony” and convict the man with an extensive criminal history whose gun was found in his truck.




San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies had a valid reason to impound and inventory a man’s truck before conducting a search and discovering a handgun in the vehicle, said a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel in a per curium opinion with diverging perspectives.
