Gov. Gavin Newsom swore in new Supreme Court Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero and Associate Justice Kelli Evans at a brief, low-key ceremony in Sacramento on Monday.
"Justice Guerrero is the third woman and first Latina to serve as chief justice as our state's highest court," said Luis Céspedes, Newsom's judicial appointments secretary.
