Judge tosses $36.5M verdict for death of motorcyclist

A coroner’s autopsy showed that Andrade had 0.2 micrograms per milliliter of methamphetamines in his blood at the time of the crash.

Citing excessive damages and insufficient evidence, a Los Angeles County judge has granted a new trial for a case in which the parents of a motorcyclist who died after being cut off by a motorist exiting a driveway were awarded $36.5 million despite evidence he was speeding and under the influence of methamphetamines.
