Judge Paul Watford tells Biden he is leaving 9th Circuit
The 55-year-old judge is too young to retire, and his future plans are unknown.
9th Circuit Judge Paul J. Watford will resign from the court effective May 31 after what will be an 11-year tenure.
“I will be forever grateful to President Obama and the Senate for giving me the opportunity to serve our country as a member of the federal judiciary,” Watford wrote in a short letter to President Joe Biden.
