Mixed views on rule for foreign whistle-blowers

California legal experts weighed in on the new policy, with some generally agreeing this move is a step in the right direction, but others raising concerns about whether it will have any effect, or might even encourage false workplace violation claims.

The Department of Homeland Security announced Friday that foreign workers who blow the whistle on labor rights violations can now access a “streamlined and expedited deferred action request process” to protect them from “threats of immigration-related retaliation from exploitative employers.”
