Judge mulls ban on vulgarities in copyright trial
U.S. District Judge David Selna gave MGA’s attorneys from Keller Anderle LLP two weeks to show the admissibility of the defendant’s rap lyrics, which include the n-word, at the next trial, which is set to begin on May 9.




A federal judge is deciding whether to ban references to racism, use of the "n-word" and other vulgarities in a retrial of a copyright case in which the defendant, MGA Entertainment, says a core argument is that it would never have based its doll for children on the women rappers who used such words in their songs.
