9th Circuit mulls whether Yahoo aided Chinese torture
The complaint was heavily informed by a 2007 House Foreign Affairs Committee investigation into Yahoo where the company acknowledged two instances of persecution of Chinese citizens based on turnover of personal information, with other members of the investigation team claiming to have identified at least four such instances.




A 9th Circuit panel heard arguments on Wednesday in the appeal of a case accusing Yahoo of turning the plaintiff’s personal data over to the Chinese government, leading to his prolonged imprisonment and torture.
