San Mateo County college district says contractors took bribes
The community college district accused the defendants of fraudulently using the more than $1 billion of public bond money to rig bids for capital improvement projects to architects and contractors in favor of companies that provided illegal, unreported gifts to high-level district officials.




The San Mateo County Community College District sued district contractors and unidentified co-conspirators Wednesday, saying they took part in a massive quid pro quo scheme, in which bribes and kickbacks were allegedly offered in exchange for construction contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars taken from taxpayer-approved bonds.
