Homeless camps block public access, disabled plaintiffs say
"We've been contemplating doing this for quite a while and waiting for the right plaintiffs to come along," said Sacramento based attorney Louis Demas, who filed a proposed class action on Tuesday. "As soon as they filed theirs, it became a good template."




Two disabled people sued the City and County of Sacramento in federal court this week, arguing the city's failure to clear homeless camps from the public sidewalk violates the Americans with Disabilities Act. A similar case in Portland is now in settlement talks.
