Judge OKs class in $6B NFL TV package litigation

A trial in the litigation that began in 2015 is set for February 2024. If the NFL is found at fault, it could dramatically change the way television licensing rights are negotiated in the future.

A federal judge granted class certification in an antitrust complaint seeking $6 billion from the National Football League over its “Sunday Ticket” television package, two years after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to shut down the case.

“We are reviewing the judge’s order,” a spokesman for the NFL said on Thursday. “We continue to believe that the plaintiffs’ claims have no merit and will vigorously defend our position in this matter.”
