Meta, Gibson Dunn sanctions in scathing ruling
U.S. District Judge Vince G. Chhabria ordered Meta and Gibson Dunn to pay under $1 million for needlessly obstructing the plaintiffs from moving forward with their privacy suit. Meta agreed last year to settle the case for $725 million, and the judge acknowledged that the sanction is negligible for companies of their size.




A federal judge sanctioned Meta Platforms Inc. and its law firm, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, lambasting them for their alleged conduct while defending a data privacy class action against the tech giant.
Gibson Dunn has defended its handling of the case and maintained that it was following standard legal procedures on behalf of its client.
