LA utility extends contract with Paul Hastings for water bill case
The firm has been representing and advising the board for the past six months in the matters related to the class action settlement in Antwon Jones v. City of Los Angeles, as well as federal felony plea agreements by utility officials and former attorneys for the city, according to the board’s letter of approval. The board had said it wanted separate legal counsel from the city.




The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power board of commissioners approved a $1.5 million contract with Paul Hastings LLP to represent the board and agency in the civil and criminal proceedings around the 2013 water overbilling case that has led to years of litigation and federal charges.
