Lawyers and former Girardi client tell concerns over 'snitch' rule
“It’s just going to create a big mess and make the State Bar a clearing house for petty claims involving rumored innuendo, creating a tremendous amount of problems for people,” said Fresno attorney Richard M. Oberto. “It would turn the State Bar into a court for a bunch of reports that are not worthy of a police report.”




During a State Bar public hearing cut short by technical problems Tuesday two attorneys and a former Girardi Keese client expressed concerns about a proposed rule requiring lawyers to report their colleagues’ misdeeds.
The proposed Rule 8.3 would make it a professional obligation for California State Bar members to report any knowledge they have that another licensee has engaged in misconduct that raises “a substantial question” of honesty...
