Privacy concerns grow as car's technology advances

A car knows a lot more about its driver’s personal life and daily routine than people might be comfortable with, even if it is only gathering location data, T Lee Tien, an attorney at Electronic Frontier Foundation, said.

Speaking to journalists at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the former CEO of Ford Motor Co. revealed that his company was looking to expand its horizons beyond manufacturing automobiles.

“As our vehicles become part of the Internet of things and as consumers give permission to us to collect that data, we’ll also become an information company,” remarked Mark Fields, now the head of car rental company Hertz.
