Supreme Court refuses to consider $302M penalty against J&J

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned all trans-vaginal POP mesh devices from the national market in 2019 because of concerns over safety and effectiveness.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to review a $302 million civil penalty California levied against Johnson & Johnson over false and deceptive marketing of its pelvic mesh products.

“Let this be a strong warning: The California Department of Justice will not hesitate to take action against corporations that violate the law and harm consumers,” Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement.
