US attorney seeks removal of judge over speedy trial dispute
U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney twice dismissed the charges against a doctor accused of illegally prescribing oxycodone, after judges on the Central District court agreed to halt criminal jury trials because of the COVID-19 pandemic.




The U.S. attorney’s office wants a federal judge in Orange County removed from a criminal case against a Newport Beach doctor, telling the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that the judge “defied” the appellate court’s order to set the case for trial.
