Tribe and Havasu Water ordered to settlement talks

A 1976 agreement between the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, the water company and the federal government granted the water agency an easement to operate a pump station at the edge of Lake Havasu and a 1,500-foot water pipeline from the pump station across the tribal land, according to the complaint filed by Lester J. Marston of Rapport & Marston in Ukiah.

Almost three years after an Indigenous tribe sued a San Bernardino County water company over a pipeline that was allegedly trespassing on tribal land, a U.S. magistrate judge ordered the parties to talk about settlement terms and update the court by Friday.
