Santa Rita Jail inmates seek class certification in suit over conditions
All of the defendants contended that plaintiffs have yet to offer evidence to substantiate such claims nor evidence showing the county had any policy or practice that exposed the prisoners to a substantial risk of serious harm.




Prisoners who say the largest county jail in the Bay Area, a for-profit entity with a 4,000 inmate capacity, deprived them of medical care, gave them insufficient or inedible food and failed to maintain adequate sanitary conditions asked a judge Thursday for class certification.
