Groups want state to regulate pesticide coated seeds
In the complaint, the Natural Resources Defense Council contends that the state’s failure to regulate treated crop seeds that are planted into the soil as it does pesticides has allowed chemicals linked to birth defects, declining bee populations and water contamination to be used without regulation.




Environmental groups are suing the California Department of Pesticide Regulation to remove a legal exemption that allowed farmers to skirt pesticide regulations by using seeds coated with those chemicals.
