Gun rights groups seize on advantage in fight with California
In a brief arguing that the state’s ban on large capacity magazines is unconstitutional, Anna M. Barvir — an attorney with Michel & Associates PC who represents gun rights groups — wrote that the state could not identify a single law that was analogous. “Not one 19th century or earlier law, not even an outlier, involved a restriction on the capacity of a firearm,” Barvir wrote.




Gun rights groups have seized on what they believe is a big advantage they now have in judicial evaluations of California ammunition laws: last year’s U.S. Supreme Court decision in Bruen, which emphasizes the history and tradition of firearms regulations.
