Little Hoover Commission to probe environmental law
The first hearing on March 16 “will focus on the debate over CEQA and give the commission the opportunity to hear different perspectives on CEQA and on CEQA’s impact and effectiveness.” It did not publish an agenda or disclose the focus of hearings scheduled for April 13 and April 27.




The Little Hoover Commission, an obscure but powerful body created in 1962 to investigate California state government, announced Monday it would hold three hearings on the California Environmental Quality Act. The announcement comes as Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic lawmakers push major changes to the state’s signature environmental law, saying it is holding up the construction of new housing.
