Tesla seeks 2 new witnesses in retrial of racism case
In the first trial, a jury awarded the plaintiff, Owen Diaz, $130 million in punitive damages and $6.9 million in compensatory damages for emotional distress because of racial discrimination. The damages retrial is happening because Diaz refused a remittitur to $1.5 million in compensatory damages and $13.5 million in punitive damages.
