Prison retaliated against convict who sued over conditions, judge rules

A federal judge found the California prisons department has been retaliating against Todd Ashker, a convicted murderer serving a life term for killing a fellow inmate and is known for his campaign to end long-term solitary confinement through a settlement agreement with the state.
