Santa Maria oil company ordered to pay $65M for spills
HVI Cat Canyon Inc. will pay $55 million in civil penalties and $2.5 million in cleanup costs. The court also ordered the defendant to pay $7.7 million in civil penalties and nearly $200,000 in natural resource damages and cleanup costs to California.




A U.S. judge ordered a Santa Maria oil and gas company to pay $65 million to end a 12-year lawsuit brought against it by the federal and state government.
