IRS gives client $1.5 million Avenatti stole to pay taxes

The IRS acknowledged that the money Avenatti used to get Eagan Avenatti LLP out of bankruptcy is directly traceable to the funds stolen from beauty vlogger Michelle Phan

The Internal Revenue Service returned more than $1.5 million to a former client of disgraced attorney Michael J. Avenatti, who stole the money to pay his law firm’s taxes.

Avenatti, a once high-flying Orange County plaintiffs’ lawyer, is serving 14 years in federal prison and must pay $7 million in restitution to four victims. He has appealed the length of his sentence.
