A bill to remove the statute of limitations on civil cases stemming from childhood sexual assault claims passed its first legislative test on Tuesday. If it passes, beginning Jan. 1, AB 452 would eliminate the prohibition on actions after a plaintiff’s 40th birthday.
Groups representing schools and insurers are fighting the bill, but it passed the Assembly Judiciary Committee on an 11-0 bipartisan vote.
